Getting Started

Pip & Pages is a cozy reading companion. To begin, add a book to your shelf: search for its title, or scan its ISBN barcode with your camera to fill in the details automatically. Once a book is on your shelf, open it and tap Start a reading session to begin reading with Pip by your side.

As you read, you can track your progress, build a reading streak, set reading goals, and save your favorite quotes. Customize your experience — including Pip's costumes with Pip Pro — in Settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a book?

Tap the + button on your shelf, then either search for the book by title or author, or scan its ISBN barcode using your camera. The camera is used solely to read the barcode on-device — no photos are captured, stored, or transmitted. Once the book is added, you can start reading sessions and track your progress.

How do reading sessions and the timer work?

Open any book on your shelf and tap Start a reading session. Pip & Pages runs a reading timer that tracks how long you read. When you finish, stop the session and record the page you reached. Each completed session counts toward your reading streak and your reading goals, and builds a history you can look back on.

How do reading streaks work?

Your reading streak counts the consecutive days you complete at least one reading session. Read every day to keep your streak alive — miss a day and it resets. Your current streak is always visible in the app and on the widget, so you have a gentle nudge to keep turning pages.

How do I save quotes?

While reading, tap Add quote to save a passage to a book. You can type the quote in by hand for free on any book. With Pip Pro, you can also use OCR quote scanning — point your camera at a page and Pip will turn the printed text into a saved quote for you, with no typing required.

How do I use the widget?

Pip & Pages includes a Home Screen and Lock Screen widget that shows your current book and your reading streak at a glance. To add it, long-press your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap the + button (or Customize on the Lock Screen), search for Pip & Pages, and choose the widget you want.

How do I sync across devices?

Pip & Pages uses iCloud to keep your books, sessions, quotes, and streaks in sync across all your Apple devices — for free. Make sure iCloud is enabled under Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud. Sync happens automatically in the background through your own private iCloud storage; the developer cannot access, read, or modify it.

What do I get with Pip Pro?

The core of Pip & Pages is generous and free: unlimited books, unlimited quotes, unlimited reading sessions, streak tracking, the widget, and iCloud sync. Pip Pro unlocks the extras: mood logs, OCR quote scanning, shareable quote cards, a year-end reading story, CSV import, and Pip costumes. Pip Pro is available as Pip Pro — Yearly for $4.99 per year (auto-renewable) or Pip Pro — Lifetime for $19.99 as a one-time purchase.

Managing Subscriptions

The yearly Pip Pro subscription is managed through Apple. To view, change, or cancel it:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select Pip Pro to manage your plan

The yearly subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. The Lifetime option is a one-time purchase and does not renew. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
